VAT is then charged on top of the duty, so a 10ml nic salt at £2.99 works out at roughly £5.63 once the duty is passed on.
Buying before 1 October 2026 avoids the duty, and the saving is largest on shortfills, which pick up £22.00 of duty per 100ml. Mouth-to-lung (MTL) kits give a tight, cigarette-like draw and suit higher-strength nic salts, typically using coils above 1.0 ohm. Sub-ohm kits use lower-resistance mesh coils for a looser direct-to-lung draw, more vapour and more flavour, and pair with lower-strength shortfills. Ex-smokers usually prefer MTL.
E-liquid and vape juice are the same thing, just different names for the liquid you vape. A shortfill is a larger bottle of nicotine-free e-liquid, usually 50ml or 100ml, left part-empty so you can add a nicotine shot. Nicotine-containing e-liquid is capped at 10ml bottles and 20mg/ml in the UK.
20mg/ml, roughly equivalent to 2%. Nicotine-containing e-liquid must also be sold in bottles of 10ml or less, and tanks or pods holding nicotine liquid are capped at 2ml. Nicotine-free shortfills can be sold in larger bottles.
