Are disposable vapes banned in the UK?

Owning or using a disposable you already have is not an offence. The ban applies to businesses selling or supplying them.

1. Prefilled pod kits (closest to a disposable)
A rechargeable battery plus sealed pods that click in. When a pod runs out you snap in a fresh one. No filling, no mess, and the flavour range mirrors the old disposable lineups. This is where the majority of former disposable users landed, because the day-to-day experience barely changes.
Trade-off: convenience costs more per ml than bottled liquid, and the October 2026 duty applies to the liquid in the pods.
2. Refillable pod kits (cheapest to run)
The same style of device, but you fill the pod from a 10ml bottle of nic salt. A kit is typically a one-off £15 to £30, and after that you are buying liquid rather than hardware. For a daily vaper this is comfortably the lowest running cost, and it is the format the market has consolidated around.

How to get the disposable experience from a refillable kit
The complaint people have when switching is that it "doesn't feel the same". That is almost always a liquid mismatch rather than a device problem. Three things get you most of the way back:
- Use nic salts, not freebase. Disposables ran on nicotine salt e-liquid. Salts are smoother at high strength, which is why a 20mg disposable never felt harsh. Freebase liquid at the same strength would be unpleasant.
- Match the strength. Most UK disposables were 20mg/ml, the legal maximum. If you were a heavy disposable user, start at 20mg nic salt and drop later if you want to.
- Pick a mouth-to-lung pod. Disposables had a tight, cigarette-like draw. Choose pods described as MTL, typically around 0.8 ohm or higher, rather than loose sub-ohm coils.
The knock-on effect: illicit product
